Easy way to learn openings

Hi everyone

I like everyone struggled with how best to learn about chess openings. Inevitably Reuben Fine's book "The Ideas behind the Chess Openings" gets recommended to me time and again but it is a struggle to read.

On the other hand, I found a great book on chess openings that suits my level of  comprehension. It is Chris Ward's "Improve your opening play" by Everyman Chess. Interspersed with positions on a board almost every page, it was easy to follow !!! And whilst definitely very introductory, one can get the basic feel of a chess opening very quickly. Thank you very much Chris for your wonderful book !

And for the more visual, I found on youtube.com ChessWebsite's wonderful collection of uploads on chess openings. The link is :

Thank you very much Kevin Butler for your wonderful commentaries !

I hope everyone finds Chris' book and Kevin's videos useful as I did !!!

Other good book are :

William Aramil's The Complete Idiot's Guide to Chess Openings - William explains why the moves for the opening are as they are.

Byron Jacobs' Mastering the Opening - Byron discusses what the major strategies White and Black would employ as results of the choosing a certain opening

Sam Collins' Understanding the Chess Openings - Sam discusses the pawn structures that openings tend to leave behind which has major influences on the game all the way towards the endgame
