Hey guys! Looking to sell my custom wenge, pauduk, figured maple board. I make many boards for myself and friends...but this is my masterpiece. The board is enormous. Made out of 100% hardoods. Weighs more than 60 lbs easily. Board has two drawers which store custom cnc machined aluminum pieces. One side machined aluminum...one side sandblasted. This board is truly awesome....i put a lot of time into this board in particular. Looking to sell and use the funds to build more boards! My price is $2500.00 for the pieces...and $5000.00 for the board. If you buy as set $6900.00. You will never see a board or set of pieces like this again. Completely original...designed and crafted by me. Feel free to post any questions.

I like the board, I don't know that I can say the same of the peices I'm afraid, but to each their own.  In either case, I suspect you'll have a hard time finding a bid that comes anywhere near your ask.

That is a sweet looking set and box!

Just wish that I had the budget for it.

I also wish I had seven grand laying around to drop on a chess set where the board squares were too small for the pieces, because I would probably be enjoying a margarita on a yacht right now.

Yeah, the pieces are a bit large for the size of the squares. And, the board is very high...need bar stools and a low table to play.

But, who's complaining? Not me. I like it! I just wish that there was a secret compartment in the box for a stash of Cuban cigars.

Along with the yacht...life is good.

Great to see I am drawing the attention of all the "critics"...anyway...i would accept reasonable offers. Anyway, the pieces are different...agreed. Thats why I designed them that way. I have turned my own pieces wood and metal and I just wanted something different this time. As far as piece base diameter vs square size....there is no rule. Ive seen a lot of different styles. This "tight" setup" is actually very polular in asia in my experience. In any case...some added details are that the drawers are conceleaed and open using a push to open ball bearing track. The board is finished with 5 coats of Italian ICA urethane for unmatched protection. And seeing as I am of cuban descent...how do you know there ISNT a secret compartment for cigars.. ?..

Best of luck with your sale, but it's gonna be a hard sell here on Chess.com.  People agonize endlessly over whether to spend $100 to upgrade their membership.  Someone who has snagged an Ebay set for $2-300 is the object of much admiration and "some day" posts.  Others worry that their wife will find out about their latest purchase.  I just don't think there are that many deep pockets here on Chess.com.  Maybe you should give Ebay a shot?  Of course with a substantial reserve to protect yourself.   Maybe an art gallery would take it on commission....

Also for a .45 acp? Maybe a brandy flask, too?

You are truly a craftsman!

Very very cool!

Ive noticed there arent many deep pockets. And do plan on putting it on ebay. Figured it was worth posting in any case to show off...even if no one purchases ;).

The board looks nice...the pieces not so much ( just my opinion)  The set isnt practical for everyday play, and i cant see shelling out $6900 just to show something off.

Someone using it could hide something behind the high board. Anyways I do like the board a lot but the pieces not much because the base is too large.

The board is somewhat a collector's item so the price is acceptable to me. (I just didnt have money.

Your right...it isnt an everyday board. I make everyday boards. They run between $500 and $2000...depending on material and detail. This board is simply way more complex...i could make 10 $1k boards in the time it took to make this one...so in a way its a bargain.

Are the pieces solid aluminum? What are the weights of the pieces? I would think aluminum is pretty light. Usually pieces are weighted to give them a heavier feel.

kuko92
They are solid aluminum...and no they arent weighted....i think their weight is pretty good though. Not sure what the exact weight is. If somone wanted to buy I could find out.
