Maple and Walnut Chess Table with Vintage Dubrovnik Set

Sort:

Things have been pretty quite lately with our Dubrovnik Devotees and since it appears that our Dubrovnik Guru Ifekali has left the building, I thought I might rekindle the mania with some pics of my vintage Dubrovnik set shown on my maple and walnut chess board with 2 1/4" squares.

You do have good taste sir, simply gorgeous.  Oh and ifekali didn't mean to leave the building but he managed to lock himself out:

Thanks baddogno, and thanks for the good news that Ifekali is still on chess.com

Simply gorgeous. Reminds me of the original tables from the Olympiad.

Sitting at that table would make me feel like I stepped back in time. I would love that set-up just to play through games of the era.

Oh yeah. And if I were sitting at that table, one might actually think that I knew what I was doing in front of a chess board. Would that be an example of "clothes making the man"? Laughing

Oh, those Rooks! Stout and strong, like Rooks should be.

Beautiful setup.

[EDIT] - I just noticed, Whites Queen's Rook looks bigger than the King's Rook? Are they the same size?

I noticed that as well. Might just be the camera angle though. Thanks for the pics Mike.!

Pretty sure it's just the camera angle, as Kick suggested.

My pleasure Frank, Rooks  are same height, but one is thicker

The notches in the top of the Rooks seem to be of different size, as well as the thickness. I agree with Gunvald123, this could be a mixed set.

QuestionableKnight

I know everyone loves the knight in the Dubrovniks, but it's the slender bishops for me...
