Paypal payments don't work

Dear Support,

i recently discovered this website and i really like it. After a few days of "Basic Membership" i wanted to try out some of the premium content.

But, sadly, your paypal payment system doesn't work. I can chose Paypal and i get successfully forwarded to the Paypal site where i am asked to login to pay (standard procedure). But once i am logged in, Paypal tells me there is a problem with chess.com and so i can't pay.

Like many other europeans i have no credit card, so there is no other way for me than to use paypal. I regularly use paypal on many different sites successfully so i think it is a problem on your part.

Also just to be sure i tried every premium option there is. None of them worked!

This got out of control, i had my chess.com-account temporarely shut down because i clicked so often on the paypal link to try if it is working. Now i am afraid to try it again ^^

Can somebody please look into this problem and tell me when it is fixed.

New Problem:

Now after a day i wanted to try the paypal payment again. But now i got your 10 day trial offered. Again i have the problem, that i don't have a credit card.

The 10-Day-Trial-Offer overlaps any regular way to pay, so i can't make any paypal payment because chess.com forces me into the 10day-credit-card trial which i cant use.

I thought i'd included the way of making payments for you in the support ticket i replied too.

Looks like I am having a similar problem I do not want to enter in credit card information and will just not become a member if forced to. I just want to make payments via paypal.

This is quite annoying and if people select paypal it should just take the payment and move on. While I'm sure many people will just put in the credit card information there will be people who just leave and don't come back.

Same here. I will not divulge my credit card info to any online company that stores the info, apart from a select one or two, such as Amazon. I don't see why PayPal should be a problem. (Glad it's not a taboo subject!)

At the moment i am sending the payments manually to the chess.com paypal account but this is far from comfortable plus it takes 1-2 days until chess.com recognizes my payment.

I would be really happy if someone could fix this.

Frankly, I'd be quite happy to send the payments manually and switch to annual payments once I have decided that Diamond membership is worth it (I suspect it will be).

P.S. I would be really happy if someone could let me/us know that I/we are being listened to! So far I haven't had any kind of reply to my inquiry from over a week ago.

If you want to make payments via paypal and don't have a card, you can make payments using

Okay, i done it with the manual payment. Better than nothing. 

I'd love to trial the gold or plat membership for 10 days to see if its worth it, but I'm not putting in my credit card details in the hope that I forget to cancel, and tbh if Sony servers can be hacked, so can chess.com. Why not allow a one time free offer for 3 days?

Thank you, Kohai!  I will give that a go. Are there specific instructions about how to connect the payment with the user name, or do I just initiate a transfer to order@chess.com and it will just happen automagically? 

I send my username, mailadress and the name of the upgrade. You can enter it on the last step, before you send the money.

Now having the same problem - I just want to purchase the Diamond membership, but there is a 10 day free offer stopping me from doing this as I want to pay via PayPal. So, until this promotion stops, it seems I am unable to buy my membership.

used paypal yesterday to upgrade my wifes account, worked fine. I wanted to do same today for another family member and now paypal option not there!!

If you haven't verified your account with paypal by attaching a card it may throw back those messages.

If you log into paypal, look at the top of the page where it shows 'Send Money',

Make sure its on the 'Pay Anoyne' tab
