How do I add quoting in the WYSWYG editor?

The easiest way is to click on QUOTE as the method of launching the forum editor. Once you are actually editing a post, you can't use the QUOTE button (otherwise it will create a new post and throw away what you have just written).
Posting of my reply on any post I am reading.
I am not sure if it is my modus operandi, but when I am writing a reply to a post from another person that the one that started the post, and need to go to go back to page one to reread what the initial post is or to see who did the post as I want to include this info in my post, when I return to my post reply the info I have written is not ther anymore, only the quote I posted.
And at times everything is gone.
What do I have to do?

It is a common problem. Here is a method that works.
Use a separate view for the original post and for the comment you are writing: either open separate TABS in your browser or open two separate browser windows.
If the post you are referring back to is on the same page as you are writing in (so that you do not have to use the forum navigation links

you will be OK. Otherwise, if you navigate to a different forum page, YOUR text will be discarded - just as you have experienced.

So are you saying there is no officially supported way to put multiple answers (each with its respective quoted text) in the same post? Nothing like BBcode tags or something similar?

I tried your suggestion and, while it does seem to work, I find it hard to use.
I really hope this will be improved: though I understand it's a very minor issue, I think chess.com deserves something better.

I get that a lot. Here's a typical comment: "artfizz: the guy who creatively solves problems and thereby creates worse, more difficult, but waaay more fun problems!"

With nested quoting (see http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/dont-quote-me-on-that for instance), the problem gets even worse.

Out of curiosity, do you know if the software used here is a customization of some open source product or was created from scratch by the staff? If the latter, kudos for the great work but... why reinvent the wheel?

I'm sorry I haven't a clue - but my money would be on the former.
