Chess Workshop "Positional Sacrifice in the Endgame"
Dear Chess Friends!
I’m excited to invite you to my upcoming workshop, “Positional Sacrifice in the Endgame.” Sacrificing material is often associated with attacking the king in the middlegame, but in the endgame, sacrifices take on a unique strategic purpose—they can be used to improve pawn structure, eliminate key enemy pieces, simplify into a winning position, or even force the opponent into a critical mistake. Understanding when and why to sacrifice in the endgame is a hallmark of strong positional play.
In this session, we’ll explore how pawns, minor pieces, exchanges, and even rooks can be given up to secure victory. We’ll also discuss how sacrifices can be used defensively, as well as the psychological impact of practical sacrifices designed to complicate the position and put pressure on your opponent.
🗓 Date: 02/23
⏰ Time: 11 a.m. EST, 4 p.m. UK time, 5 p.m. CET
During this workshop, you’ll learn:
- The key strategic and tactical ideas behind endgame sacrifices
- How to recognize when sacrificing material is the best way to win
- How positional sacrifices can improve pawn structure and restrict the opponent
- The role of sacrifices in defense and in complicating the game
- How to study classic endgame sacrifices and apply them in your own games
Why should you attend?
Endgame sacrifices are an advanced but essential skill for serious players. Many games are lost because players hesitate to give up material at the right moment or fail to recognize an opportunity to simplify into a winning position. This workshop will teach you how to confidently sacrifice material in the endgame to maximize your chances of success.
