Season 6 Week 1 Qualifier Results

Before beginning I must say that season 6 has been actually quite disappointing, similar to season 4. We still had a lot fewer submissions compared to the first 3 seasons, but keeping in mind that blogging fell off real hard on Chess.com, we can also say that week 1 wasn't that bad.

Per usual, each of the 3 judges gave every submitted blog a score on a scale of 1-10. We averaged them out and put them in order from highest to lowest average scores. The top 8 have earned a spot in the Season 6 Knockouts, while everyone else will have to hope for better luck in the Week 2 Qualifiers.

Below you can find where you finished and what your average score was. If you are unhappy with your score, don't worry - judges are here to offer helpful feedback if you want it. (Unless your blogs are super low-effort paragraphs or have egregious grammar, then @alphaous or some other judge will place as much effort into my feedback as you do into your blogs.) Don't feel down. Take this experience and learn from it.

Congratulations to our top 8 finishers this week! You've all clinched a spot in the Season 6 Knockouts, which will probably begin between 23-26 May. Good for you, you can take a break for a week or two if you want! The competition needs confirmation from the top 8 here if you will compete in The Knockouts. So, if you're a top 8 finisher and reading this, type "I confirm my participation in Knockouts" in the comments to confirm your participation.

As for the rest of you... unfortunately, you did not qualify this week. But week 2 is gonna bring another opportunity, so get ready! Week 2 submission thread should be posted by today itself.

I would like to say that there were a lot fewer submissions compared to the number of registrations. Few people straight up withdrew, while others straight up disappeared. If this continues, BlogChamps season 7 probably won't exist.

If you want feedback on your blog, simply PM one of the judges and they will give you feedback. Just know that should you do this, you will receive 100% honesty from any judge you contact, so keep that in mind.

That's that. Happy blogging!
