The Move that Revives the Von Hennig Schara Gambit

We have reached our twentieth opening discovery. This blog has been a fun creative outlet for me, and I hope you all have enjoyed reading about the opening bombs as much as I have finding them. For the occasion, I thought I'd share an idea I'd normally keep for myself: a move that revives the Von Hennig Schara Gambit!

I've always thought of the Von Hennig Schara Gambit as more of a club-level weapon with a clear refutation. However, the neural net engine Leela disagrees, revealing a hidden idea that opens a whole new world of possibilities. Let's first take a look at the current "refutation" and then move on to the new idea that counters it.

So that was dreary. It's inspiring, then, to see our modern interpretation.

The New Idea

 I hope you enjoyed our twentieth idea. It oddly reminds me of many positions in the Albin Countergambit, another opening I have a soft spot for, where although black is down countless pawns, the flailing active pieces hold the balance.
