Don't Get Scammed Tip #1
Hey guys, I decided to make a random blog after several years because there is something I care about a lot and am familiar with, SCAMS. Scams do be everywhere these days and on god they keep trying to get better at fooling. If you ever suspect any online game or other account to be a scam account then I strongly advise to stay away. But if you ever end up in a situation where you are ever unsure, then this is meant to help with clarity. As an example, I will use my steam account. I get added by multiple lvl 11 or less accounts every day, and they are all scam accounts. Sometimes i like to entertain myself and use some CS knowledge I have gained overtime to explore what new scams they have come up with and recently I hit the jackpot. I added a lvl 11 account that afk farmed hours of CS2 and a few other free games. This account showed a female with "her" Instagram. It was clearly bought and stuff but I wasa interested in seeing what they would do. The scammer running the account ended up asking me to join a discord which i was appalled by, like how bold would one have to be to get in a voice call with someone you are scamming. As I add their 4 month old old discord account (another red flag), I get dragged into a group voice chat with people. I end up very surprised, I check and notice all the accounts are private with very generic weird names. These people say they are gonna play some competitive with me and so they give me a steam ID to add an alt account with which doesn't work. They then tell me it is probably bugged and to go to the link they sent which I notice is not the standard steam friend link. I end up running it and here is what I got:
This virus total scan shows as if the site is safe when I clearly know it is not. I am still interested in how to better verify if the site is safe and find a cool feature in the relations tab for the site called graph summary. Now let me show you the actual site and what it leads you to:Oh my:
Yep. Very bad. Me navigating on that site would have pretty much immediately messed me up in several different ways. Funny how the scammer told me they were in LA which by looking at the other deposit server I could tell that the server was in a small place in Russia. It is crazy that new online account scammers are trying to make things seem more legit by getting their friends in on it, nevertheless they always have weaknesses that can be found and exposed. Maybe if I decide to learn more, one day I can deal with sites like these, but in the end, a good defense is sometimes what matters most. Stay safe, and if you want to easily check sites and their base network structure you can use the great tool https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload which even allows file scans.
Seeya!
