Aimless in the "Early Middlegame"

As a chess coach, I see it time and time again.

You play the opening just fine, get all your pieces into the game...and now what? Around moves 10-15, so many players all the way up to Expert strength start playing some pretty lackluster moves!

Have you experienced this yourself? Let me know in the comments below.

In my experience, this "middlegame aimlessness" is often the result of inadequate opening preparation. I'm not just talking about memorization here. I'm talking about understanding the ideas of the openings you play deep into the middlegame.

Many players get intimidated by this and look for a cheap way out instead of putting in the work. But if you have a solid grasp on chess, this isn't "too advanced" for you. Just look at what Vlad, a 1300-rated student of mine, was able to accomplish just by deepening his understanding of the following opening!

If using this approach helped a 1300 player to crush a significantly higher-rated opponent, playing 20+ perfect moves to begin the game despite the opponent deviating on move 9...I don't think you can tell me the approach is impractical! If it worked for him, why won't it work for you?

We also see that memorization itself is not the most important aspect, contrary to popular belief. If you're serious about building a Master-Level Opening Repertoire, memorization is only the 3rd most important pillar. This is the subject of an exclusive training video I've made which isn't publicly available.

In the past, I've reserved this training for private students...but if you're serious about constructing a Master-Level-Opening Repertoire, I want to help you out. If you want this training, let me know HERE and I will send it to you for free.

Thanks!
