The Middlegame Myth
Many players think of the middlegame as a distinct phase of the game, separate from the opening. After all, isn't this how we all learned as beginners?
It's true that your objective must change as the opening phase of the game comes to an end and the middlegame begins. But a lot of players miss a big opportunity by studying these opening phases separately.
Each opening has several middlegame plans that are associated with each possible deviation or line your opponent may choose. By studying the opening and middlegame together, you can really get the best results possible!
Take a look at this quick video of a game played by Vlad, one of my students. His opponent deviated on move 9, but he played a nearly perfect game and CRUSHED a higher-rated opponent because he understood the middlegame plans associated with this opening!
