"Thinking by Analogy" in the Opening!

A lot of good chess lessons came up in a recent "Blitz Battles" video that I made. We talked about pawn structure transformations, Isolated Queen Pawn positions, and more!

The video is below. If you haven't already, make sure you sign up on ChessPathways.com for free to never miss new content, and receive a free chess guide!

Towards the end of the video, we touched on a topic about the power of "Thinking by analogy" in the opening.

Many players believe that one your opponent deviates from your preparation, you're "on your own". Amateurs bemoan the fact that their opponents do this early and often, and therefore their "preparation" (which often consists of 10-12 memorized moves with no context) is useless.

Opening preparation doesn't have to work this way! Putting in the work to create and implement a Master-Level Opening Repertoire will serve you throughout your whole chess career.
