Chess Olympiad is the chess tournament where players from many nations compete against each other, representing their nations. This tournament is organised by FIDE. First Chess Olympiad was unofficial because 1924 Olympiad was only an attempt to include chess in Olympiad but it failed because of the distinction between professional and amateur players. As 1924 Summer Olympics were held in Paris, 1st unofficial Chess Olympiad was also held in Paris. 1st official Chess Olympiad was held in 1927 in London it is held in duration of every 2 years regularly during the period of Covid it was also held but in online mode there were 16 countries participating in first Chess Olympiad.

India is one of the nation participating in Chess Olympiad from long time first time Indian team participated in Chess Olympiad was back in 1956 in Moscow where this tournament was held First chess Olympiad India team was Ramdas, B.P Mhalskar, S Venkataraman and R.B Sapre this was the team of India representing India in Chess Olympiad India has won medals in Chess Olympiad In 2020 India won Gold medal and in 2021 bronze medal and in 2022 team won Gaprindashvili medal given to best overall performance open team

Previous 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 tournament was organized for the first time in India in Chennai, India from July 28 to August 9 during the Covid pandemic.
The winners were Uzbekistan with the first place (gold medal), Armenia with the second place (silver medal) and India with the third place (bronze medal). The number of registered teams was 188 teams from 186 countries.

In this 45th Chess Olympiad Indian team is also participating and it is heading towards Budapest in hunt of medals which they will hunt so lets talk about India's team for this year's Olympiads so in 1st place we have Arjun Erigaisi (21 years old ranking if world no 4 with rating of 2778) followed by Gukesh (18 years old ranking of world no 7 with rating of 2764). Also R Praggnanandhaa (19 years old and ranked 12th in the world with an Elo of 2750), Vidit Gujrathi (29 years old and ranked 24th in the world with an Elo of 2720) and P Harikrishna (38 years old and ranked 41st in the world with an Elo of 2686). This time the Indian team will not have chess legend Vishwanathan Anand, although this Indian team has enough power to win gold.

Indian women's Chess Olympiad Team
Now let's talk about Indian women's Chess Olympiad team, so on no 1 we have GM D Harika (33 years old fide rating 2502), secondly we have Vaishali ( 23 years old with fide rating 2498) Pragg sister, both siblings participating in Chess Olympiad. Third we have Divya Deshmukh (18 years old fide rating 2483), fourth we have Vantika Agrawal (22 years old fide rating 2435) and at reserve we have Tania Sachdev (38 years old and my favorite 😅) This year unfortunately Koneru Humpy is not participating but Vaishali is there.
