A toss-up for sure. I expect a Najdorf. But, Dave has plenty of theory up his sleeve… who knows, maybe a dragon appears. Still, I favor Steven to pull this one out. Boston (1-0)
Board 2 – IM Katz vs IM Shmelov
Two grinders make this an easy call for me. A long struggle, a solid Caro-Kann, and given Denys’s slow start, a draw.

Board 3 – NM Williams vs FM Winer
Chris’s week 1 win was not awe inspiring. I expect this also to be a toss-up, but, a no draw, d4, type of game. I have to pick this as a loss, just my feeling, and I hate myself for it.

Board 4 – NM Kavi vs Krasik
As always, when Ilya plays, his game is crucial. Certainly, he is the favorite by rating. 1.d4… for sure, and a win for the match. Boston (2.5 – 1.5)
So, there you have it. What I think may not matter, but, I have a good feeling about this match. The power of Blitz fans and positive thinking will triumph. GO BLITZ!!!
