Chess Piece Restoration - Ivory Piece, Repaired Beyond My Satisfaction
I had a Chinese Ivory Chess Set in which one of the pieces (the knight) was damaged. After looking for a while for a place to repair it, I just gave up and resigned myself to an imperfect set.
Several years have passed and I decided to try to get this piece repair. After during several local searches, I came upon The Japanese Repository.
I visited his website and was immediately impressed with his scope of work. I emailed him what I wanted done. Ron Fromkin, the owner, was courteous and responsive to my questions and what I wanted done. You could easily tell that chess piece restoration was his wheelhouse.
I sent him the pictures of the damaged piece and he assessed that he could do the repair; and do it quickly and at a reasonable price.
The entire transaction was seamless and pleasant. So, if you are in need of restoration of a chess piece in ivory (or any other material), Ron will do a magnificent job. My gratitude goes out to him and The Japanese Repository for truly being artisans.
