Hello everyone, it is time for my monthly announcements for all upcoming daily tournaments I am directing for September. Simply click the title of each tournament listed to enter the registration page and reserve your spot. If you have any suggestions for an induvial who you believe deserves a memorial tournament, leave your suggestions in the comment section below and it will be considered.

1. 2018 Don Wilson Memorial – September 1st, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Don Wilson (September 1, 1900 – April 25, 1982), an American announcer and actor in radio and television, with a Falstaffian vocal presence, remembered best as the rotund announcer and comic foil to the star of The Jack Benny Program.

2. 2018 Labor Day Open – September 3rd, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to Labor Day, a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws, and well-being of the country. It is the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend and it is considered the unofficial end of summer in the United States. It is recognized as a federal holiday.

3. 2018 Peter Lawford Memorial – September 7th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Peter Lawford (September 7, 1923 - December 24, 1984), a British actor, producer, and socialite, who lived in the United States throughout his adult life.

He was a member of the "Rat Pack" and brother-in-law to President John F. Kennedy. From the 1940s to the 1960s, he was a well-known celebrity and starred in a number of highly acclaimed films. In later years, he was noted more for his off-screen activities as a celebrity than for his acting; it was said that he was "famous for being famous".

4. 2018 Arnold Palmer Memorial – September 10th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Arnold Palmer (September 10, 1929 – September 25, 2016), an American professional golfer who is generally regarded as one of the greatest and most charismatic players in the sport's history. Dating back to 1955, he won numerous events on both the PGA Tour and the circuit now known as PGA Tour Champions. Nicknamed The King, he was one of golf's most popular stars and seen as a trailblazer, the first superstar of the sport's television age, which began in the 1950s.

Palmer's social impact on behalf of golf was perhaps unrivaled among fellow professionals; his humble background and plain-spoken popularity helped change the perception of golf from an elite, upper-class pastime (private clubs) to a more populist sport accessible to middle and working classes (public courses). Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player were "The Big Three" in golf during the 1960s; they are widely credited with popularizing and commercializing the sport around the world.

5. 2018 Claudette Colbert Memorial – September 13th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Claudette Colbert (September 13, 1903 – July 30, 1996), an American stage and film actress and a leading lady in Hollywood for over two decades, and has been called "The mixture of inimitable beauty, sophistication, wit, and vivacity".

Colbert began her career in Broadway productions during the late 1920s and progressed to motion pictures with the advent of sound film. Initially associated with Paramount Pictures, she gradually shifted to working as a freelance actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in It Happened One Night (1934), and received two other Academy Award nominations. Other notable films include Cleopatra (1934) and The Palm Beach Story (1942).

6. 2018 Lauren Bacall Memorial – September 16th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Lauren Bacall (September 16, 1924 – August 12, 2014), an American actress known for her distinctive voice and sultry looks. She was named the 20th greatest female star of classic Hollywood cinema by the American Film Institute, and received an Academy Honorary Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2009, "in recognition of her central place in the Golden Age of motion pictures."

7. 2018 Eddie “Rochester” Anderson Memorial – September 18th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Eddie Anderson (September 18, 1905 – February 28, 1977), an American comedian and actor. To a generation of early radio and television comedy, he was known as "Rochester."

Anderson got his start in show business as a teenager on the vaudeville circuit. In the early 1930s, he transitioned into films and radio. In 1937, he began his most famous role of Rochester van Jones, usually known simply as "Rochester", the valet of Jack Benny, on his NBC radio show The Jack Benny Program. Anderson became the first Black American to have a regular role on a nationwide radio program. When the series moved to CBS television in 1950, Anderson continued in the role until the series' end in 1965.

8. 2018 Greta Garbo Memorial – September 18th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Greta Garbo (September 18, 1905 – April 15, 1990), a Swedish-born American film actress during the 1920s and 1930s. Garbo was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Actress and received an Academy Honorary Award in 1954 for her "luminous and unforgettable screen performances." In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked Garbo fifth on their list of the greatest female stars of classic Hollywood cinema, after Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman.

9. 2018 Adam West Memorial – September 19th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Adam West (September 19, 1928 – June 9, 2017), an American actor known primarily for his role as Batman in the 1960s ABC series of the same name and its 1966 theatrical feature film.

West began acting in films in the 1950s. He played opposite Chuck Connors in Geronimo (1962) and The Three Stooges in The Outlaws Is Coming (1965). He also appeared in the science fiction film Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964) and performed voice work on The Fairly OddParents (2003–2017), The Simpsons (1992, 2002), and Family Guy (2000–2018), playing fictional versions of himself in all three. Late in his career, West starred in two direct-to-DVD animated Batman films, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, and Batman vs. Two-Face, the latter of which was released posthumously.

10. 2018 Libra Open – September 23rd, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to all people who have Libra for their zodiac sign. Libra is the seventh astrological sign in the Zodiac. It spans 180°–210° celestial longitude. Under the tropical zodiac, Sun transits this area on average between (northern autumnal equinox) September 23 and October 23, and under the sidereal zodiac, the sun currently transits the constellation of Libra from approximately October 16 to November 17. The symbol of the scales is based on the Scales of Justice held by Themis, the Greek personification of divine law and custom. She became the inspiration for modern depictions of Lady Justice. The ruling planet of Libra is Venus, however, some may consider Eris as its ruler as well. Libra is the only zodiac constellation in the sky represented by an inanimate object. The other eleven signs are represented either as an animal or mythological characters throughout history.

11. 2018 F. Scott Fitzgerald Memorial – September 24th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and work of F. Scott Fitzgerald (September 24, 1896 – December 21, 1940), an American writer, whose works illustrate the Jazz Age. While he achieved limited success in his lifetime, he is now widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Fitzgerald is considered a member of the "Lost Generation" of the 1920s. He finished four novels: This Side of ParadiseThe Beautiful and DamnedThe Great Gatsby, and Tender Is the Night. A fifth, unfinished novel, The Last Tycoon, was published posthumously. Fitzgerald also authored four collections of short stories, as well as 164 short stories in magazines during his lifetime.

12. 2018 George Gershwin Memorial – September 26th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and work of George Gershwin (September 26, 1898 - July 11, 1937), an American composer and pianist. Gershwin's compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. Among his best-known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue (1924) and An American in Paris (1928), as well as the contemporary opera Porgy and Bess (1935).

13. 2018 Julie London Memorial – September 26th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Julie London (September 26, 1926 – October 18, 2000), an American singer and actress, whose career spanned more than 40 years. Born in Santa Rosa, California to Vaudevillian parents, London was discovered while working as an elevator operator in downtown Los Angeles and began her career as an actress. London's 35-year acting career began in film in 1944, and included roles as the female lead in numerous Westerns, co-starring with Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951), with Robert Taylor and John Cassavetes in Saddle the Wind (1958), and opposite Robert Mitchum in The Wonderful Country (1959).

In the mid-1950s, she signed a recording contract with the newly established Liberty Records, and released a total of 32 albums of pop and jazz standards during the 1950s and 1960s, with her signature song being "Cry Me a River", which she introduced in 1955. London was noted by critics for her husky, smoky voice and languid vocal style. She released her final studio album in 1969, but achieved continuing success playing the female starring role of Nurse Dixie McCall, in the television series Emergency! (1972–79), in which she appeared opposite her real-life husband, Bobby Troup. The show was produced by her ex-husband, Jack Webb.

14. 2018 Ed Sullivan Memorial – September 28th, 2018

This tournament is dedicated to the life and career of Ed Sullivan (September 28, 1901 – October 13, 1974), an American television personality, sports and entertainment reporter, and syndicated columnist for the New York Daily News and the Chicago Tribune-New York News Syndicate. He is principally remembered as the creator and host of the television variety program The Toast of the Town, later popularly—and, eventually, officially—renamed The Ed Sullivan Show. Broadcast for 23 years from 1948 to 1971, it set a record as the longest-running variety show in US broadcast history. "It was, by almost any measure, the last great TV show," said television critic David Hinckley. "It's one of our fondest, dearest pop culture memories."

My main stock-in-trade is chess puzzle solving. I currently have a 2500 plus rating on Chess.com’s Tactics Trainer Leaderboard which serves as a testament to that claim.
