Levy Rozman's Charity Update: Thousands of Kids Helped
In October of 2021, popular chess streamer IM Levy Rozman (GothamChess) created the Levy Rozman Scholarship Fund to help chess programs in schools pay for the expenses of training, equipment, and travel fees to national tournaments during the 2021-2022 school year.
Levy gave $100,000 to support competitive school chess teams!
His kind generosity sent numerous K-12 chess teams to nationals in the Spring of 2022. Several state chess championships were won, school chess teams awarded, and all expressed gratitude to Levy for his incredible support.

The scholarship also funded one of our dearest partnership programs, Chess In Slums' initiative to address the challenges of vulnerable youth in Oshodi Underbridge, a suburb of Lagos, Nigeria. This chess intervention project not only helped train 51 children but also helped take them off the streets into shelter homes, where they are now getting a proper education.

Countless thank-you videos and messages were shared on social media, and many emails and letters poured in to thank Levy for his huge impact on everyone and the chess community.
Regarding his plans for the future, Rozman shares:
I'm overjoyed that so many people benefited from [this] and were able to pursue their chess goals. Moving forward, I hope to turn this scholarship into a chess foundation, crowdsourcing grants and scholarships for more students across the US and perhaps the world.
ChessKid is proud to partner with Levy in making a difference for kids in chess programs and the chess world. Thank you, Levy!
