Bughouse Chess Rules and Basics
Rules- Bughouse (Doubles Chess) Chess is a chess variant played by 4 players in teams of 2 playing on 2 boards. On each team, one player plays white and the other player plays black. When you capture an opponent's piece on one board, that piece goes to the other board to you partner and they can place that piece on any empty square in any point during the game. If you checkmate your opponent or your opponent lost on time, both games end and your team wins. There are no draws in Bughouse.
Strategies-
1. Communication is Key because if we trade pieces on one board, those pieces are going to go to the other board and let them know what you need.
2. Consult before doing Trades, let them know if you are on the offense/defense. If you are on the defense, your partner should not trade pieces, and if you are on the offense, ask for your partner to give you more pieces.
3. Sacrifice on f2/f7 because if you wait for the pieces you need and they came from your partner you will begin to attack your opponent and sometimes mate on f7/f2.
4. Play fast and stall if you are about to lose and if you are ahead on the clock than your partner's opponent then they must move because if they let their clock tick then they will lose on time first.
5. Checks and Attacks are good and you always want your opponent to be on the defense.
6. Piece Values:
Queen= 10
Knights= 7
Rooks= 4
Bishops:= 2
Pawns= 1
7. King Safety because there is going to be a lot of pieces on the board and if you don't keep your king safe, you are going to easily get mated.
