Sicilian Pelikan: Opening with a Unique Playing Style
Being back after a long time, I must say that I am thoroughly exhausted and found the only moment of free time I had to give all of you a video. Summer was full of volunteer work, and so the only relief time I have is the time when school is the least stressful and there is no homework to do, so that I don't have to struggle making a video whilst thinking about school .
About the opening: The Sicilian Pelikan, also known as the Sveshnikov, is a very sturdy line in the Sicilian which focuses on locking up the pawn structure as fast as possible, creating a position which is open on one side and closed on another. Both black and white can choose which side they want to attack on, the Kingside or the Queenside (at least for club players, Grandmasters also know what they need to do )
This is the opening which I grew up playing as black, despite not knowing that it was supposed to draw with it. I only realized it after I became a strong enough player that I was playing the opening wrong, when I realized the marvel the Pelikan truly was. Unlike any opening, its playing style is commanding; it wants to force the opponent to make hard decisions. This video is the first video of a series I'm planning to make, though you all probably know that it may not happen.
Without further ado, here is the video! (There might be some loading issues)
I do come and go with my videos, so hopefully you don't mind subscribing if you like my content, it will allow others to find my content as well! I'll see you in the next one
Thanks for Reading!!
