And I couldn't have been more wrong!

If you're struggling with having enough time to think, calculate, and then make a move within 10 minutes, it's generally better to switch from Rapid to Bullet and Blitz for a few weeks rather than to other Rapid variants like 15|10. While these have their place, to get significantly better at quick thinking and maintaining concentration, 2|1 Bullet is truly, from personal experience, the best thing you can do initially.

 Improve Not Just in Bullet and Blitz

Playing Bullet and Blitz is effective not only for getting good at these variants but also for improving in various aspects of chess. Even in puzzles and puzzle game variants like Puzzle Rush, you will automatically get better.
