Book Recommendations: Endgame Books

Hello, and welcome to the second post of EnergeticHay's Blog! Today we will be talking about some good books to read if you want to improve your endgame!

1. Silman's Complete Endgame Course by Jeremy Silman

This book is very good for mastering the basic concepts of the endgame, and is a very good starter for players in the range of 1000-2000 USCF. If you have little to no knowledge of endgames, read this book!
2. Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual by Mark Dvoretsky

Possibly one of the most famous endgame books, this book delves into the more specific types of endgames, and provides very complete analysis of certain recurring endgame themes and positions. This book is considerably harder and more complex than Silman's Complete Endgame Course, so I would not recommend reading this book if you are not at least rated 1800 USCF. Re-reading this book is very important, as there is no way you'll remember everything the first time.

3. Encyclopedia of Chess Endings by Chess Informant

(This is one of the 5 books in the series)

This series of 5 books consists of endgame puzzles aiming to reinforce your knowledge of the basics and to test your practical play. The books start off relatively elementary but work their way up really fast, so I would only recommend this series to players who have already read Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual extensively.  Many of the problems are geared to replicate real positions that would occur in a real game, which is why I personally really love these books. Frankly, you should be 2000+ USCF to read these books.

Those are my 3 favorite endgame books, let me know in the comments if you agree with my assessment of these books and if you have any other book recommendations. I hope you enjoyed this post, stay safe!
