I beat Mario Kart DS :)
Mario Kart DS came out in 2005, and now 15 years later I have beat the game. What qualifies as beating the game? I got 3 stars on each cup in the grand prix, 3 stars on every mission, and beat every staff ghost in time trials. This is a rather pointless achievement, but I feel the need to brag about it anyways, because it took me several months to do this. I went to records and took photos there, as doing so in the actual grand prix would take 32 photos and could easily be faked by beating 50 cc and then reuploading those photos 4 times.
For GP the time displayed is the sum of all 4 courses
Grand Prix:
A Mission is a custom challenge Nintendo picked for you. You have to do a specific task with a character they picked. For Missions there are 9 missions per each set, and you get a rank depending on how well you do on a mission. The lowest rank on that set of missions is displayed as your rank for the whole set. So if you got 8 3 stars and 1 C for set 1, then set 1 would display a C. So to get it to show 3 stars each mission must be 3 stars.
Missions:
In Time Trials you chose a course that you race on to get a time. Once you finish a race, you can retry it vs an ai that replays what you did during that race. This ai is called a ghost. So each time you improve, you play against that improved version of yourself and try to beat it. If you get a fast enough time, it unlocks a Nintendo staff ghost for you to race against. There are 32 courses, and I don't wanna take that many photos, so I included the ones that were hardest for me.
Time Trials:
If you were observant, you would have noticed that each of those staff ghost was by Ninten. There are different staff ghost names, but Ninten was the hardest bc they cheated. In Time Trials there are no item boxes, and you get 1 mushroom for the whole race. You can choose when you want to use that mushroom. Ninten CHEATED!!! They did one lap and made the ghost do that lap 3 times, instead of playing it normally and doing 3 separate laps. Why is this bad? Because if Ninten used a mushroom during that lap, then Ninten used 3 mushrooms bc it is the same lap x 3. I only get 1 mushroom so it is hard to compete against that, but I managed with lots of grinding. Also it is really easy to grind 1 really good lap, then just use that perfect lap 3 times. I know Ninten cheated 1, bc 3 mushrooms, and 2 bc in Choco Island 2 there are a bunch of bumps, and Ninten went over the same bump each lap. If a human was playing they would not do that, as bumps slow you down by throwing you in the air, making you go slower than if you were on the ground.
