The following diagram shows the initial set-up of the Ware Defense in the 1. b4 opening - a relatively unpopular continuation for Black: 

Black immediately attacks White's b-pawn aiming to create some counter-play on the queenside right away. However this response by Black is considered to be a waste of tempo that helps White to advance his pawn to b5.

The resulting position favors White and the misguided 1... a5 poses no real challenge in the opening

P.S. There is no official name for the 1. b4 a5 variation. The name "Ware Defense" was chosen by analogy with the 1. e4 a5 opening which carries the name of "Ware DefenseCool
