The Chess.com Study Plan Test Drive
Week # 1 Day # 7 Rating 1198 (+30 points)
I am a long time dilettante of chess, who has gotten frustrated with no meaningful improvement. I decided to take the Chess.com Study plan for a test drive. Could it really deliver? Was my diamond membership worthwhile? This blog is my record of endeavors. And thus far I have to say it is delivering. I am up 30 points and knocking on the 1200 doorframe.

Today I continue with # 3 tactics.
Yesterday I did Silman's 107 lessons and puzzles, and Daniel Rensch's video.

I have decided to move a little out of order and work on the Intermediate checkmates. I'll have to say I expected this all to be elementary to me. I was pretty sure I knew my checkmates. Yes, I had heard of an Anastasia checkmate, but I have yet to accomplish one in a game. Johannesson's video was extremely helpful. And I realized that I often don't see moves which could set a checkmate in 2-3 moves. This is clearly an area I need to improve as I cross the 1200 barrier.
But first I have to set up my music. Today, I think it will be the Steve Miller Band. "The Joker"
And then before I hit the videos let's spend 20 minutes on the puzzles. I'm rated 1500. Let's try to get to 1650?
