Webinar 56. How to Keep Concentration to the Very End of The Game
Dear Chess Friends!
I always say to my students: “The game is not over, until the scoresheets are signed!” What means that you shouldn’t lose concentration until the end of the game even if you believe that your position is absolutely winning. Now we mainly play on Internet and there are no scoresheets, no need to shake hands or stop the clock, but it doesn’t mean that you should relax after you get extra material, for example.
Moreover, it’s highly recommended to play focusing even more on your opponent possibilities, make simple, but solid moves with the main idea to not allow any counter-play for your opponent! Emanuel Lasker said: "The hardest game to win is a won game.” Often, reaching a favorable position makes it harder to win due to the additional pressure. At the same time your opponent understands that he loses the game, but doesn’t want to give up and tries to find anything that can potentially lead to a counter-play or a complicated position, where you may make a mistake!
Chess players (even strong club players, not only beginners) from time to time lose the games, because they underestimate the opponent and his possibilities. That’s why I decided to devote my next 56th webinar to this very important topic!
Welcome to my next 56th webinar “How to Keep Concentration to the Very End of The Game” where I’ll provide you with several helpful tips and demonstrate GMs’ games to show that concentration is very important and you should never stop and relax during a game. Let’s learn by someone’s mistakes rather than repeat same mistakes regularly.
The games played by top grandmasters I’m going to demonstrate on the webinar (and, of course, explain the ideas behind their moves):
- Mikhail Tal – Efim Geller
- David Navara – Anish Giri
- Frederick Yates – Frank Marshall
Come to the webinar, learn how to keep concentration to the very end and win won games more!
