My little Chess School: #2 Chess Features
Hey Guys,
when you read this you have to look at the first part of "My little Chess School". Link: My little Chess School: #1 Introduction to Openings - Chess.com
When i write this lines its afternoon and i had a hard day at school. Now im happy to write this.
Today's Part is about Chess Features. I dont know if its the right name, but i mean with it special things in chess you talk about. Like: castle, fool's mate etc. A Anounymos Person gave me inspiration and i greet him.
So now to the right blog. You waited too long. Let's start with a list of important things you have to know.
1. Notation
The Rows and Lines have letters and numbers. For example: The left row(A) + the Line at the bottom(1) --> the square has the name A1.
2. Castle
This probably the quickest and fastest method to give your King safety. It exists short and long castle.
In the diagram Up: This is the short castle
This is the long castle
Dont get confused of the english word "castle". In chess the word has a extra meaning.
3.Stalemate
Here a little example for it before i explain
4. The quickest Mates in history
Two of the quickest Mates in history have a name. One is connected to a little joke
Fool's Mate
This is the Fool's Mate. The quickest Method to checkmate for black.
This is the Fool's Mate, but just for White. Of Course the Fool's Mate for Black is more famous, because it is in 2 Moves for Black. Crazy🤩🤩🤩
Scholar's Mate
Some Insiders maybe have realized: OMG! That's The Game in the series "The Queen's Gambit"
In the series it was the first game of the little Beth vs. Mr Shaibel. But back to the content. This is just a example for the Scholar's Mate. My definition for Scholar's Mate: "The Scholar's Mate is when you use the Queen and the light-square Bishop to checkmate on f7"
"Joke Mate"
How i said this very quick Mate for white is connected to a Joke (I tell him in diagram)
I know its not the funniest Joke, but its one of the shortest Mates.
This was the shortest Mates which are possible and famous
5.En Passant
This is a special rule of Chess when you can take a pawn with a pawn. More explaining in Diagram.
En passant is very rare in games, but very usefull to stop a pawn.
I think that's enough for the 2. part of "My little chess school". I hope you had Fun and took experience from reading
See you in next Part
