This mind-boggling position occurred in one of my tournament games last weekend. Black to play. (I was black) The last two moves were 26...Bg7-f6 and 27. Nc3-d5.  Both queens are hanging, white's knight on d5 is hanging, black's bishop on f6 i...

This is from a blitz game that I just played. In this position I found the interesting move 22...Qxc3+!? to demolish White's control of the long diagonal. After 23. Nxc3 Nxe4, the Bishop is very strong. 24. Qc2 Rxc3, and White resigned.

Position after 58. Kd2-c2   I was playing a Chess.com correspondence game and reached this equal endgame. What should black play? 58...Qxa4+ What could be more natural than taking a pawn with check? But this is a serious blunder. 59. Kc3+! Che...

Tonight I had a strange tournament. In Round 1 I lost to a 1500, but then somehow I managed to beat a 1800, a 2050, and a 2200 in the remaining rounds to tie for 1st. My prize was $8.50 .  Who could have imagined this outcome immediately after Rou...

Tonight I went 3-1 tonight and got clear 2nd ($5.50 prize ). I felt that I played okay. I still need to improve my time management. In Rounds 3 and 4, I was down to seconds on the clock.  In Round 1, I was White against Brion. I played unambitiou...
