Back Rank checkmate.
As you can see a back rank checkmate is when a castled king can't escape from the back rank because of the pawns in front of the king.
Leolli’s Mate
Some openings such as King's fianchetto, Queen's Indian, and more openings will fianchetto the bishop but sometimes it becomes a weakness a player can use that weakness to deliver the Leolli’s Mate.
Diagonal Corridor Mate
Uncontested Bishops on the long diagonal are a force to be reckoned with. Bishops are so powerful that sometimes they can win you the game singlehandedly!
In the first case, the bishop alone checkmates the king. This is a crucial pattern to remember because long-range plays are sometimes overlooked by players.
Knowing this pattern gives you a distinct advantage in your games.
Smothered Mate
A Smothered Mate is when a king gets suffocated by it's own pieces allowing the knight to jump and checkmate the king.
David and Goliath Mate
Any scenario where a Pawn delivers checkmate falls under David and Goliath Mate. However, Pawn promotions and Pawn moves with discovered attacks do not count.
Fool's mate
The fastest way to win at the game of chess is the fool's mate.
Ladder Mate
Also known as Lawnmower Mate, this checkmate pattern involves two Rooks or a Queen and a Rook gradually pushing an enemy King to the edge of the board.
