      Game of Life – Checkmate

Shatranj - guess what, it was invented in India. The best mind game, addictive and evergreen game ever introduced in the history of mankind. Chess, a two-player strategy board game played on a white and black checker chess board with 64 Squares arranged in an 8*8 matrix. Each player begins with 16 pieces. One King, One Queen, Two Knights, Two Rooks, Two Bishops and Eight Pawns. Each of them has different characteristic within them. The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent’s king. Other than checkmate the player has an option to voluntarily resign the game or even has several tactics to draw the game. The game has the probability of Winning, Losing, Resigning or to draw it off.

Generally all the games have their own Peculiarities, It’s Strength- Weakness, Enjoyments, it’s Tactics, it’s Gameplan and Rules BUT more importantly, everything has one thing in common – A Spirit of accepting challenges and motive to win the game. That is an Attitude to prevail over the opponent or prevail over oneself for better ‘I’.

I would like to share my thinking through a game of chess, a life game that all have to go through. As portrayed above about chess in short, what I believe in life is somewhat replica with a game of chess. Life is all about making Choices at the Right Time in a Right Manner. Despite how well we are prepared- obstacles are waiting at our doorstep: Knock…Knock…and the actual opponent in our chess game or life game is the reflection of - ourselves, our choices, our Karma, our Consequences, our reaction on how we respond to the hurdles we get in our life.

Like pieces of chess board many of them resemble PAWN as, without pawns on both sides, there is no game at all. Despite the fact it carries the lowest point in a game, ignoring pawns might destroy the whole kingdom of the opponent. It is only the pawns that have the strength of converting itself from lowest point piece towards most astounding point piece. So learning from pawns - life is not generally at the top, sit tight for the right moment, have patience, grab the opportunities and you are Queen of the game.  As pawns can create obstacle through slowing, forcing, halting the position to enable and force the opponent to rethink the strategy. Pawns being critical yet at the same time, it cannot achieve anything without the support of Rook, Pawn, Bishop, Queen, King, or knight. Same way in life, people, through support of each other can be somebody who was earlier nobody.

Some people resemble a KNIGHT wherein having a quality to crack the complications and even have a very good caliber to grab the opportunities.

Some people resemble BISHOP who slice the objective of opponent to achieve its objective.

Some resemble ROOK who are tough-minded and straightforward, No matter the situation is – they are constantly focused on what is coming forward and what is beside it.

While very few resemble QUEEN who control positive attitude of overall game.

KING – These is the person who is having leadership quality and who take control of game to protect the society. Ultimate risk and agony of sacrifice are on him.

At the start of a Game, each one of them has a game plan in its mind, but with each move the situation might turn in a different manner, forcing us to rethink of the choices. Regardless whether a game of chess or a game of life not everything goes according to what we had envisaged in our lives. This is precisely why there is a great need to go with a flow for what choices we make. So, what matters is to figure out the strategy as per the need of the situation protecting our self and protecting companions who are close to you in your life.

In short, What I believe is Life accordingly tosses challenges at us in light of what choices we make.
