Chess is often referred to as the "Game of Kings," is a timeless pursuit that continues to captivate minds around the world. In recent years, India has emerged as a production house in the chess world, producing some impressive talented chess players every year. One such individual who has recently made a mark in the chess world is Aditya S Samant, the 83rd Grandmaster of India. 

Aditya S Samant became India's 83rd Chess Grandmaster on Wednesday (26th July, 2023). The 17-year old Samant became an International Master in 2022 and a FIDE Master in 2020.

 He became a GM when he started his ninth round of game against compatriot Aryan Chopra at BielChess MTO 2023 tournament. He has drawn his eighth round game against Bu Xiangzhi and needed to achieve his final GM norm by playing the ninth round, no matter about the result. Samant had already crossed the Elo mark of 2500 in the live ratings and had obtained two GM norms.

Aditya S  Samant's journey of chess began at a young age. Hailing from a small town in Maharashtra, India, Aditya was introduced to the game by his father, who recognized the strategic and intellectual merits of chess. The young prodigy soon developed a passion for the game, spending countless hours to increase his skills and to learn every best moves.
