Star Wars - The Rise Of Chess: How Star Wars Ties Into Chess ( With Puns... )
My bro @nbrasington helped me with this blug and we both hope you enjoy it! YAYYYYYYY!
INTRODUCTION
Everyone knows what Star Wars is. And everyone knows what chess is. But what if they CAME TOGETHER? What would the result be? Well, turns out that the result is a bunch of cringy, really weird puns.
There's more to these puns, though, if we think about it deeper... they can actually be a fun way to help us remember chess positions.
"PAWN SOLO"
The above position is an example of "PAWN SOLO" *Dramatic Music Plays*. As you can see, the white pawn is all alone while all of the opponent's pieces are in the corner on the other side of the board ( In a timeout 😂 ). Of course, this position will most likely never occur in a chess game, but whatever; this could still be an example of "Pawn Solo". Whenever you see one of your pawns all by itself in a game, you can remember "Pawn Solo" and that you need to protect it from potential future enemy attacks.
"OBI-PAWN-KENOBI"
Next we have a positional example of what I like to call "OBI-PAWN-KENOBI" *Dramatic Music Resumes* Now look at the position above, you see... a pawn. All pawns should be called Obi-Pawn-Kenobi. It just makes sense!
"JEDI KNIGHT"
In the opening, a common theme you will see in chess games is the white knight on B1 looking to be developed to either C3 or D2 ( Just Not A3... nah ). To help us remember this, we can call this knight, "JEDI KNIGHT". We can also refer to the squares on the board C3 and D2 as "C-3PO" and "R2-D2".
THE END OF THE CRINGY PUNS
I hope you enjoyed my blog and all my cringy ( yet educational ) puns. I hope you took something out of this and I also hope to see you back in my next blog! *Dramatic Music Concludes*
