Thunderbolts* Rating Has Been Confirmed... Maybe...
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... the Thunderbolts* rating has been confirmed... maybe...
Marvel fans have already been swarming the beehive about the official runtime of the film ( Supposedly 2 hours and 6 minutes ) but nobody seems to be talking about the official rating... have I been the only one worried about this? It really doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to anyone else...
Oh, whatever. Enough of the suspense building. According to the Regal Cinemas website, Thunderbolts*, 2025, is rated...
...yeah.
...i-it-it's rated PG-13... WHY is it rated PG-13? Who knows, but I never had a doubt.

*Clears Throat*
That definitely hasn't been the only thing I looked up this past month... 🤗
Now... I know what you're thinking: "Is the Regal website reliable?" And the answer is... "I don't know." BUT, I have SOME reason to believe this is all true, and some reason to... well, not. Please note that Regal is the only source I saw with a confirmed rating so if any of y'all find another, PLEASE send it my way in the comments. ( Thank you 🙏 )
Alright! Time to unpack every single detail I could possibly unpack about 1 film's rating!!! FUN!
First off, here's my number 1 reason to believe the rating ISN'T actually confirmed yet: Marvel posted these 2 YouTube shorts BOTH with the tag "Not Yet Rated" at the end, the first one being from March 27th, and the second one being from March 29th:

"Their time has come ⚡"

"Marvel Studios' #Thunderbolts* crashes into theaters May 2."
MARCH 29th
Regal announced all this about 2-3 days ago but the film studio itself never said anything...
*Crickets Crickets*
...but we can just ignore all that for now; let's go onto why I believe this PG-13 rating could be true:
- The Fantastic 4: First Steps is rated "NR" on Regal's website so they couldn't have just GUESSED what the rating was going to be for this one ( That would also be, not to mention, unprofessional )
- Regal is ( Dare I say ) one of the most popular movie theaters of all time ( AMC probably being first ) so I don't know why they would just make this up ( This also goes with the runtime of the film; 2 hours and 6 minutes is VERY specific )
- It's been WAY too much time that the rating hasn't been confirmed for this movie; for example, the HTTYD live-action film has had a confirmed rating of PG since February and it doesn't even come out until JUNE; I had a theory that the reason it was taking so long for the Thunderbolts* rating to be announced was because the MPAA gave it a PG-13 rating but Marvel Studios' CEO Kevin Feige wanted it to be R so he's been chasing down the organization ever since, trying to convince them it's R-rated material... *Sighhhhhhh* I think about this way too much...
- Marvel announced the Thunderbolts* in Avengers: Doomsday ( Every Avengers movie being PG-13, of course ) so freely ( RIP Taskmaster ) that I don't think they would have done that if Thunderbolts* were to be rated R; so either it's going to be a totally different vibe, or it's going to be our 35th MCU movie to have a PG-13 rating ( I'm treating this news from Regal as neither true OR false rn 🥸 )
It's been a wild ride... but I'm ready to assemble.
