All about Samay Raina [Chess]

Today we will discuss about a personality who is a Stand-Up Comedian as well as a Big Content Creator in Youtube.

So the story starts from The Covid Era basically during Pandemic. As lockdown was announced, Samay's Stand Up Comedy came to a big fullstop.

So he didn't had any other task to do and was basically playing other games such as Pubg on streams  etc.

But he didn't liked those games as he wanted something which was slow and also help him make easy conversation with stream chats.

So his eyes fell on chess as he used to play during his childhood.

So he started playing chess in streams.

Slowly slowly he started getting more views to Chess like 40 to 100+ members live that to at early morning.

He collaborated with prominent chess personalities, including Grandmasters Viswanathan Anand, Vidit Gujrathi, and Anish Giri, blending humor with chess to make the game more accessible and entertaining.

During this time, he was also called as Blunder Master and got a title M on chess.com .

Comedians on Board (COB) Tournaments

Raina organized the "Comedians on Board" (COB) tournaments, where comedians and celebrities competed in chess matches. These events garnered substantial viewership and played a pivotal role in popularizing chess among the Indian youth. 

Chess Super League (CSL)

In collaboration with ChessBase India and Nodwin Gaming, Raina co-organized the Chess Super League, featuring top international and Indian Grandmasters, International Masters, and junior players. The league, streamed on his YouTube channel, further elevated the profile of chess in India. 

Tournament Participation and Achievements

As a player, Raina has an online rapid chess rating of 1621 on Chess.com, with a peak rating of 1942 achieved on August 3, 2023. Notably, on May 5, 2021, he won the $10,000 Botez Bullet Invitational, an amateur bullet arena tournament, earning $4,000 as the sole Indian streamer among international participants.
