LCWL 6th Round: Virtual Knock-Out!
The Bangladesh tigers have knocked the England lions out of the Championship Pool!
In the question of Championship Pool, last night the "Bangladesh vs England" matches were virtual knock-outs! And both matches went down to the last wire!
British players also acknowledged the significance of this match. After the first round surprise (50 boards!), England brought their second best squad of this season last night. Unfortunately they came short against Bangladesh also, but only just!
winning margins were minimum in both of the matches
Blitz Match (16.5 - 15.5)
Every single point (even half point) was crucial in deciding the match result.
Being out-rated in the first 8 boards, Bangladesh still got 4.5 points from the top-order! Could've been more!! There were so many back and forth matches. Here are some of them -
@sinbaad missed winning chance on the first board!
@zahidx could make it a draw
@matt1979 missed a nice checkmate combination there.
I was lucky enough to get 2 points! My opponent @mattaker missed mate in 1!
@barua33 got away with his blunder against British admin @Tricky_Dicky
In such a close contest, Bangladesh gave away 2 important points without making a move! That’s the risk involved with new players who always have the tendency to leave the match without realising the significance of “withdraw” button.
Rapid960 Match (13 - 11)
Most of the Bangladeshi players have quite stable rating in this format, as Team Bangladesh played most number of Live960 friendlies. That was really fun to play Chess960
@I_Ahmed got away with his blunder in the first match
but in the second match, he got a well-deserved win after his opponent king went for an adventure by playing 18... Kg6 ??
Some starting positions are really very tricky. @Farhan151811 could grab the g-pawn and take significant advantage just in the 3rd move of the match!!
With my poor recent form, I was extremely lucky to get some easy wins last night.
As England is a side with around 2000 members, we expected few more players to show up.
An Interesting fact - We got more British players in our U1600 Blitz match compared to last night's open blitz!!
Top 7 Bangladeshi Players
We've already got 68 players in this season. Well, considering the strength or strategy of opponent teams, it is nearly impossible to come out champions. Still I record every player's performance for encouraging them to perform better.

We missed our only streamer @kbkhan91 in that crucial encounter. Of course, family comes first! Hopefully he will be available in the upcoming rounds
Current Standings in Div.3
Looks like, we've already got our teams into championship pool with one round to spare. Best wishes to England for the rest of the season. Hopefully they will avoid relegation, as I can see at least 3 strong teams competing in Div.4 right now!
Such close contests are more likely to happen in lower divisions, as most of the matches don't get more than 20 boards. Regardless of the results, our British friends would agree with me, that was really an enjoyable contest last night.
