Why GothamChess Will Never Be a GM

 GothamChess AKA Levy Rozman will never be a GM. Or at least not yet. According to Hikaru, since he quit right after becoming an IM he lost his chance of becoming a GM in the near future. Additionally, on July 11, 2022 he tweeted out that he will be retiring from all competitive chess events and rather striving to bring better content to his fans.
Almost instantly after he did this (6 months) he has gathered over 3 million subscribers on YouTube and is the biggest chess content creator in the world. This goes to show that since he isn't going to do competitive chess in the foreseeable future, he won't be getting his GM title either.
