Event #110 Short Non-captures
Type: Move length modifier.
Condition: Can not be started with another move length modifier event.
Moves that does not capture can only travel a maximum of 2 squares. Castling is unaffected by this event.
Note: The knight travels a distance of 2 squares, so the knight is unaffected by this event.
Example 1:
Since non-capturing moves can only be a maximum of 2 squares, moves like Ba6, Bb5, Bc4, Qg4 or Qh5 are not legal.
Example 2:
Captures can be done at any distance. White plays 1.Rxd8#. A check is a threat of capturing the enemy king, so checks are not restricted. Blacks bishop can only move a maximum of 2 squares and can not reach f8. Black is checkmated.
Example 3:
Castling is unaffected by this event, so white can play 0-0-0, despite the rook moving 3 squares. White can not play 0-0 since blacks rook is threatening the f1 square.
