21st MSCA Quick Knockouts
Yeah, my last entry was for the 12th quick knockouts and there's been 8 since that I've missed but I'm back playing in these and I hope to join them every month from here on out as I look for more practice before some OTB tournaments in 2022, pending any more COVID setbacks.
Anyways, here are 6 games I thought were particularly interesting from this past month's tournament. It's funny that they all ended up being black victories!
- In this first game, I had a nice tactic to attack the kingside and ended up getting a mating net as a result.
- Game 2 went into an endgame where I ended up promoting first being up a bishop for a pawn.
- Game 3 was tough and I put myself into a bad position, but I was able to get free and win in the endgame.
- Game 4 was really fun. We went into a knight endgame which I enjoy, but you don't get to see them as often. I ended up winning in the end. I will say, I caught a break because I didn't look well enough in the beginning and should have lost some material early on from a pin.
- Game 5 was tricky because I got into a tight position, but I was able to turn the tables in the endgame. It was a slower-moving game, but still a fun one to play through.
- The final game to showcase was a loss, but I thought I had something but missed a mating net. I thought it was pretty cool nonetheless.
