26th MSCA Quick Knockouts - Premier
I've participated in all 5 tournaments so far this year, but it's been too busy to annotate games lately. I'm back for the May edition though, this time joining two sections.
Record: 8.5/14
Place: 3rd
As always, these are the highlights.
Game 1:
Got a pretty nice draw, but I had an advantage I could have used to possibly win in the end. It was a weird, exciting game though!
Game 2:
This one wasn't the most exciting and I ended up falling for a mate in a not-so-great position.
Game 3:
A quick game, made one move too fast and ended up down a minor.
Game 4:
A great game with an interesting endgame. Unfortunately, I lost this one but turns out I had many chances to take it and win it throughout the game.
Game 5:
A tough one but I should have either had a win or draw at the least. It came down to some sloppy endgame play.
Game 6:
Got a win here in a pretty smooth overall game.
Game 7:
This was a tough one. It felt like it would end up being a draw for a while even though I had an extra point in material. I was able to pull it off after a long battle and win.
Game 8:
The last game of this showcase was a premature resignation in my opinion. There were a few other oddly abrupt endings this month, but I feel like this one was the most definitive. In this one, I was up with a decent attack and positional advantage though.
Game 9:
I made a mistake in the middle game losing a pawn, but was able to hold on a draw in the end.
Game 10:
I had some errors here that lead black to a big advantage in the endgame. We ended up drawing by repetition though.
