The Southern California Chess Federation (SCCF) Championships, running from Thursday, June 13th to Sunday, June 17th, promises to be an extraordinary event. This year’s edition is set to be the strongest ever, drawing top talent from across the region. As a seasoned participant, I’m excited to share my journey, some memorable games, and details on how you can follow the action.

My Journey in the SCCF Championships

I first qualified for the SCCF Championships during what was likely the second strongest edition of the tournament. That experience was both exhilarating and daunting, marked by a steep learning curve. One particular game stands out as a painful but instructive loss.

A critical mistake in this position taught me invaluable lessons about strategy and composure.  Since then, I have played in five more SCCF Championships. Among these, one game is my all-time favorite.
