Chess.com Staff Profiles! Introducing Kayt
In this edition of Staff Profiles we check in with Kayt from the support team who will be celebrating a birthday on Sunday!
What is your name?
I go by my the initials of my first and middle name (K.D.).
My friends call me Kayt.
🙂Hi friends!!!! 🙂
Where do you live?
Funny story--
Home is both North Carolina and Czech Republic. I was living in Germany for a very long time but now I go between these two places and love travelling when I can!
I LOVE living in CZ because of the nature and the culture, and I'm a hop, skip, and jump away from Vienna, Bratislava and Berlin. It also reminds me of Western NC (well the mountains, do). Everything in EU is a quick flight away. For me living in Czech Republic has been a learning experience. I totally stepped outside of my comfort zone when making the move--everything was unfamiliar and new. It's been an amazing adventure so far!
How long have you worked for Chess.com and what do you do?
I actually started out on the site as a moderator ages ago! It's been so long, I can't really remember when. Originally, I was known as Veggiegirlie. I've been employed as staff since February 2015. As a member of the support team, I try to be helpful on the site If you have a question, reach out to me! I love meeting new people and like to believe that I'm a helpful person.
What do you like about working at Chess.com?
I really like focusing on people's issues and trying to solve them, communicating with people from all over the world, learning chess. I also like the flexibility of working remotely and the team (not just support but all of staff). I am a very lucky girl to be working with such a cohesive and caring group.
What are your other interests and hobbies?
I love to create things -- I write stuff (fiction, nonfiction, and screenplays), make music, knit, play video games, swim, and run (very slowly). I like to hike and want to learn how to climb in the near future. I also play chess :)
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I'd love to time travel OR be able to breathe underwater
0-0 or 0-0-0?
0-0-0 every single time.
Kayt. Another lovely tree in the forest. :)
Thank you so much for all you do for the site, Kayt! And thank you everyone for reading!
