How To Beat Nelson The Chess Bot (1300) As Black!

Warm greetings fellow chess players!

Since I have seen numerous players complain about the unpleasant queen moves coming from Nelson I thought it is about time to show how to neutralize them; not only as white, but also as black!

Firstly I played numerous games against Nelson to try and find his weaknesses. It turns out that frequently when the position is closed he does not seem to know what to do. As a consequence playing worse moves. Hence, It is highly recommended to try and keep the position closed when choosing which opening to play. As Nelson only plays 1.e4 with white, the Caro-Kann and the French are my recommendations here.

Furthermore, it is important to exploit Nelson´s premature queen moves by gaining tempis for development. For instance after 1.e4 c6 2.Qh5 a good option would be 2...Nf6 developing a knight as well as gaining a tempi on the opponent´s queen on h5.

Finally it is worth mentioning that to trade queens is highly beneficial when playing against Nelson. I have noted that when the questions go of the board, Nelson plays significantly worse. It appears as if with a queen he at least has some sort of plan, but generally without queens most of his moves can be deemed as pointless.
