The World Chess Olympiad is an intellectual sport of chess that is held every two years. The World Chess Federation is going to organize the 44th World Chess Olympiad in Chennai, Republic of India from July 26 to August 10, 2022. In the 44th World Chess Olympiad, the largest number of member associations in the history of the World Chess Federation, 343 of the best teams and athletes from 187 countries will compete in the women's and men's categories.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the World Chess Olympiad was held online twice on the www.chess.com website, and this year, the World Chess Olympiad is held in a traditional indoor format after 4 years. Every year, during the World Chess Olympiad, the "GAPRINDASHVILI" trophy is presented to each country based on the combined results of men and women. We had a great success in the last 2018 World Chess Olympiad in men's and women's combined results, winning the first top 5 places in Asia. Also, in 2014, the Mongolian women's team won the gold medal in the "B" category, and in 2018, the men's team won the silver medal in the "C" category.
