The strategy is a long term plan for a chess game. So if you are a good endgame player you should trade the queen early and try to trade pieces. If you are more of a positional player you should castle early and develop all your pieces. An ideal chess game for an endgame player would look like this.

The Ruy is a great opening in my opinion for more of an endgame player mainly because it starts with a trade. But there are a few others. 

A nice positional would be like the queen's pawn or queen's gambit also the Sicilian defense.

That would some idea of the start of some positional because of early castling no trading and some development.
