Chess.com leagues: the complete guide
Let’s just say chess.com leagues are fun. But what are they really? Let’s find out.
THE LEAGUE ORDER
The chess.com leagues have an order, and here they are:
Wood,
Stone,
Bronze,
Silver,
Crystal,
Elite,
Champion,
Legend.
So what you have to do is try and work your way up from wood to legend. If you’re in the top 20 in wood you go to stone. Top 15 and you go to bronze. Top 10 go to silver, top 5 go to Crystal, top 3 go to elite, top 3 go to champion and top 1 go to the legend league. By the way, once you master the legendary league, you’ll be able to go to the legendary club. A club for the one-of-a-kind... legends! Just go to the players league tab where it tells you about the leagues and go to the very bottom where it has the legendary club info. And don’t try and join if you’re not in the legendary club. They’ll just kick you out and you won’t be able to join. Ever. And no, I didn’t learn that from experience.
SO HOW DO YOU EARN LEAGUE TROPHIES?
The simple answer is you have to play chess against people. But not daily chess. It doesn’t count. If you want to earn trophies in leagues, you have to play live chess games, not daily ones, play via the /play tab, don’t play with someone more than four times in one day and DON’T THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH A 30 SECOND GAME! LESS THAN 1MIN GAMES DON’T COUNT!
ARE PEOPLE CHEATING?
In my leagues, I haven’t seen people cheat, but if they do, don’t be shy to report them. If you play an honest game and don’t go up and they cheat but do go up, you deserve that place and you should report them. Their account will be closed or their leagues will reset. For example if they were in champion, they might go back down to wood if it’s a minor cheat. A major one, and they’ll just shut the account down.
