I Won with the Alien Gambit Against Witty_Alien!
Hello Everybody! I'm very Exited To share a game with you that I Won today against Chess streamer Witty_Alien. I was playing In a viewer arena he was hosting, with a time control 10 seconds+1 second increment, and was paired with the man himself. I shocked myself by winning, despite my much lower bullet elo of only 813. Enjoy the Game!
The game started From a set position, a variation of The Alien Gambit to be specific, which is Witty_Alien's own creation. For those of you who don't know how the gambit starts, here's how the game is assumed to go before we jump in.
The first move I played is the Knight Sacrifice 1.Nxf7!?. Obviously the engine hates it, but this is the whole point behind the gambit, as it is practically very hard to defend the now weak king. Witty_Alien took the Knight, 1.Kxf7, And I developed my Knight with 2.Nf3. He developed with 2.Bf5, which the engine calls a mistake, But it has the simple idea of stopping my bishop from developing to d3, and then the weak e8 to h5 diagonal. So now my knowledge of the gambit ends, and I assumed I was screwed. After all, I was down 2 points of material to the guy who invented the opening, and he's a CM.
I was on my own, so I just developed my dark squared bishop instead with 3.Bf4, which is a mistake because he can now either take the bishop pair from me or force my bishop back. Either way, his move is 3.g5. It was bullet, so instead of retreating to d2 or e3, I played 4.Bg3, allowing him to claim my bishop pair with Ne4, but he instead developed the other knight with 4.Nd7. now I made a square for the bishop to retreat to with 5.h3, but then after he played 5.Ne4, hitting the bishop, I forgot about it and played 6.Bd3, getting the passive dark squared bishop out and allowing several trades.
First, he took my bishop with 6.Nxg3, revealing an attack on my dark squared bishop. I took back with 7.fxg3. Then, he exchanged bishops with 7.Bxd3, a slightly inaccurate trade that allows me to get my queen out after 8.Qxd3. I had a slimmer of hope. He then Played 8.Bg7, allowing 9.Qf5+, which the engine calls a miss because he can block with The bishop, but he blocked with 9.Nf6, blundering! After I play the great movie 10.Ne5+, he is in a pickle. If he Goes Ke8, he allows the beautiful Qg6+, followed up by Kf8, Qf7#. If he goes Kf8, I win his Rook with Ng6, a fork, and I am much better because his king is weak and I'm at least temporarily up a pawn. The best move is Kg8, simply allowing a repetition!
Now I figured he would go Kf8, allow the fork, and then outplay me, because he's 2500. the engine says I should do something else after Kf8, but I can't ignore a free rook like that. But, shockingly, He played 10.Kg8! I Had drawn a CM! I went for the repetition, very happy to draw Against such a strong player. I played 11.Qe6+, and he played the obvious 11.Kh7, not blundering mate. 12.Qf5+, forcing him back. 12.Kg8, only move. 13.Qe6+, the second time the position had appeared. And now I received An early Christmas gift that I will not understand till my dying days. Witty_Alien....Played 13.Kf8??, Blundering Checkmate. I finished him off with 14.Qf7#, a Classic Queen and helper checkmate. I Have no idea why he blundered mate, especially since he avoided the same thing two moves earlier. I guess what he says is true, and Alien Gambit is simply to OP.
The Take away from this game is that no matter who you're playing, and No matter how bad you feel you're position is, you gotta keep playing, because you never know what will happen. Huge thanks to Witty_Alien for The game, and Massive Respect for his awesome channel! Thank you to all of you reading this blog, and have a Merry Christmas!
