Ahoy All,

Hope everyone is doing alright and staying healthy. UK/Scotland are ramping up the Covid restrictions as we are slowly entering the winter/hibernation season.

Thanks everyone who submitted their games and participated in last week's 'Master Analysis of Your games' session. I strongly believe these sessions are full of value and so I will continue holding them weekly.

Before we get into the details about our next session, last week I posted a little puzzle for you guys to test your calculation skills. I am disappointed that nobody found a solution to it, so let's have a look at the position here. This was the position I reached in Round 4 vs GM Degraeve, Jean-Marc. I was playing with Black and failed to see my opponent's threat.

This is why it is important for us to analyze our games and learn from our mistakes. So here come the details for the next session -

When is the next analysis session?

30 September, 7PM London time (GMT+1)

How will it work?

I will analyze LIVE on my Twitch channel YOUR games and you will be able to ask questions etc.

How do I submit my games?

Post them in the comments session below.

In the meantime, here comes quick analysis of my recent game I played in Cattolica Open (Italy). My opponent played very well and me not so much. I think my psychological preparation for the game was the issue - I thought it would be easy to win the game, because my opponent was lower rated. I nearly got punished for my attitude towards the game, and even though luck saved me this time, I clearly need to improve on this.

Thank you for your attention and I hope to see you already on Wednesday!

P.s. Don't forget to submit your games for analysis in the comments section below!

Cheers,
Ritvars
