Paul Morphy vs. The Duke 1858, "The Opera House Game"
The Opera House Game is one of the most famous games in chess history! Paul Morphy one of my Favorite Players played an epic game! Let's See how he did it! The Duke of Brunswick invited Morphy to come to the Opera. Morphy was really into music so he accepted the offer, but by accepting he also accepted his challenge to play against The Duke and one of his Companions! Let's see how the game went!
As the story goes, while Morphy was playing the Duke and Count, Morphy was actually trying to watch the opera, so he spent most of the game with his back turned to the chessboard, so one might say Morphy played the entire game blindfolded as he was trying to focus on the opera, not the game. Here we come to a point where Black has played the move b5 threatening to take the bishop and telling it to get off the diagonal! But Morphy is fearless, and says "No!" and plays the move Nxb5!
At this point, Morphy is already winning but once Black played the move Qe6, it allows white to finish off Black with great style! Morphy takes his chance and plays Bxd7+!
Although Black is up a Queen and a Knight! The Black king is checkmated with a Rook and a Bishop! Thank You for reading my blog! These are my first few blogs so if you have any tips please tell me in the comments because I am trying to become a Top Blogger! Hope you enjoyed, Cheers Fellas.
