How would you rank the greatest chess players of all time? Was Garry Kasparov or Jose Capablanca more dominant at their peak? What matters more, the length of Emanuel Lasker's career or the brilliance of Paul Morphy's?
Here's my take on ranking the greatest chess players of all time, from Bobby Fischer and Magnus Carlsen to lesser known by fascinating players like Rashid Nezhmetdinov and Akiba Rubinstein.
Where did I go wrong? I already think my biggest mistake was Vladimir Kramnik! He was anointed by Kasparov and triumphant in a stunning world championship match. That should definitely qualify for the Great + Lucky tier at least!
