Did you know I run a chess channel on Twitch? Well, I do! It’s right here: https://www.twitch.tv/skwerly. I do most of my playing on lichess.org, and I’m just over 2000 rated in classical/rapid there. Over time, my channel accidentally became known as The City Streets, a theme that recurred on stream for whatever reason. I know, I know, there are a ton of chess channels, so what makes mine so special? Well, me! Hah! But seriously, here are some of the things you can expect if you tune in and follow.

1. Chess. Of course! I mean, lots of chess. Mostly slow chess, as I really enjoy longer games and do feel they are best suited for overall improvement. That said, I do run blitz tourneys and play some variants like ZH/crazyhouse from time to time. We really do have a lot of fun. I often host simuls, too, and since I’m only 2k rated viewers definitely have chances to get a point off me.

2. Pet cam. Sometimes, the pet cam shows my big old American bulldog, Tonka, and other times it shows my tarantula, Teresa. Heck, recently it even showed indoqueen1750 (https://www.twitch.tv/indoqueen1750) and jigs, one of her mods and a viewer from my stream, as well. That was a fun meetup!

3. Music. Sometimes I run a quiet stream just because, but I do often play music—some of it commercial and some of it copyright-free. Sometimes it’s gang member street stuff, sometimes classical or piano, sometimes ‘80s hair metal, sometimes just an odd and eclectic mix of it all. I do occasionally have song requests turned on, as well, so viewers can enter a command and their song choice enters the queue to be auto-played in order of request. It’s neat!

4. Jackbox fun. Have you ever played Jackbox games with a streamer? They are so, so fun! At the moment, I have packs 2 and 5, so we do a lot of Fibbage, Quiplash, and Mad Verse City, a game in which we write rap rhymes and robots flow them on screen for us. Some of the battles are… interesting, to say the least.

5. Poker night. Now and again, I host a poker game and viewers can hop in and play! I've tried a few places, and right now, PokerStars.net seems to do the trick best. I tried Governor of Poker 3, but they canceled private games/tables because people were using them to cheat and gain chips. Booooooooo, Skwerly says. Yet another instance of a few ruining a neat thing for all. Still, it’s a good time and folks really seem to enjoy it.

Well, there is more to the stream, but why spoil it all here? Come check it out and see for yourself. If you like what I do, throw a follow and say hi. At first, I was wanting to stream Mon, Wed, and Fri, but I really have no hardset schedule. My streams do tend to go long, most of them in the six-hour range or better. So come hang out and tell us all about your chess and what you wanna do that day!
