January 2025 – My Chess Improvement Journey
January was a month of reflection and planning. Without any tournaments on the calendar, I focused on playing around 200 blitz games online. I participated in Hikaru's Swiss and Arena events, though the prevalence of cheaters made things challenging. In one event, I scored 7/13, ranking 432 out of 2473 players.
I also completed Gotham Chess's Chessly Courses—the Endgame Masterclass and Tactics Masterclass—which I’d rate at about 4/5. However, in my opinion, ChessMood's courses deserve a solid 5/5.
For Chinese New Year, I stayed at the OUTRIGGER Mauritius Beach Resort. Although it's marketed as a 5-star hotel, I found it more in line with a 4-star experience.
Overall, January was about rest, strategic planning, and setting up future tournaments. I’m grateful every day, thanking God Jesus Christ because every day is a good day. As a famous millionaire entrepreneur once said, "Another day, another W."
Excited for what February will bring on my chess journey!
